Non-profitThe Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP): Provides a one-time payment to the energy providers of families with low incomes to help defray a portion of their winter heating costs and aids in keeping the household warm. Payments are based on types of fuel utilized, income levels, and geographic region. These funds also allow families who are disconnected to receive additional assistance to restore heat and to repair or replace inoperable or dangerous furnaces. These payments afford families the opportunity to reallocate their incomes to pay essential expenses and potentially increase their ability to save.
